IG: Unravel your passion… * * I remember there was a point in my life where I was just mindlessly working away with the sole intention of getting my son and I out of broke living. I had one vision, to save enough so he never has to take out a student loan and provide him with a lifestyle that allowed him opportunities a lack of money/environment greatly affected. 5years went by and even though I was succeeding seeing my vision unfold, I noticed that my passion for life was dwindling. I had no ‘real’ direction. I felt empty and unfulfilled. Working for my vision ended up taking time away from my son/family and I wasn’t even working at anything I even enjoyed. I’m forever grateful for the 2008 crash because that’s when life really took a turn for me internally. That’s when I started really searching for what ignited my soul and what would justify & inspire the time I needed to spend away from my son for the same vision. Fast forward a few years past trial & error, (you do need shitty trials to polish out the gems that are buried within you), and there I was giving up living with my son full-time in order to go back to school & become an RMT. My amazing mentor @neveen_dominic gave me the best advice one day that tremendously changed the guilt I felt for wanting to be an entrepreneur but also a great mom. She told me to involve my son in the business. Talk to him about it, ask him for ideas and keep him in the loop about how things are going etc. Hands down the best thing I have ever done! He has given me so many ideas, feels included in my day’s work and understands that the success of us as a family is the success of my business and vice versa. Having a great, involved, loving & supporting coparent made and makes all the difference for me daily. Thank you @aeon4ever08 for allowing us to flourish as individuals whilst influencing a young mind? So I challenge you all to unpack your fears and jump into the business of finding your passion. It won’t be easy. Your challenge will be way different than mine but you have to get to work at it daily! ????? I hope you are all off to a great start today! #selfcare #selfreflection

IG: Peroneal Love… * * Toppa di mawnin’ THL’ers!!!? I hope you are all off to a great start for the week with some self-care. Today’s self-care tip is focused on the peroneals at the side of your leg. These puppies do so much for us daily when standing, walking, running and much more? Tension / pinching you may feel in the knee can sometimes be from them being unhappy combined with calf tightness. I like to do this flush after a good leg day especially any with explosive movement. Try this out, ensuring to use as much pressure as is comfortable for you. You can also use ‘The Stick’ roller (or rolling pin) to iron them out. Have fun with it!?? #selfcare #primemovement

IG: Self Care. Mental Check… * * Days are just days. People are just people. Emotions are ephemeral. Situations are just that, Yet your perspective on them all is the only common denominator to whether or not all those are supportive/unsupportive to your mental well-being. The accumulation of perspectives on all the above determines your overall outlook on life. How you experience any given encounter adds to the existing summary of YOU. Today has been a hard start for me. Nothing in particular has happened, but my mind just seems to be stuck in a place of lamentation and over the weather of all things. Could it be S.A.D? (seasonal affective disorder)??‍♀️. My overall outlook on life is immensely positive. I know I am happy in my life. I see all the great things happening for me and around me and I’m empowered by them. So I choose to take on the Stoic/Buddhist outlook on emotions. They are quickly changing and aren’t a determinant of who I am or where I am going. As quickly as this appeared this morning driving lil one to school, is as quickly as it will go in another instant. My choice right now is to ride the wave. Coast it in observation with no attachment and see if it reveals anything latent or blows over aimlessly as I anticipate it will. I love watching these videos when in Mexico. There is no way of describing how the wind felt against my skin, the kiss of the sun nor the scent of the ocean. I’m yet to stay at a villa as healing & meticulously designed such as @villalolbeh I’ll be organizing a crew to visit this place again one day. If you’re down, stay ready!!!!??? In the mean time, #selfcare #selflove and LOTS of it!? Happy hump day everyone! Be safe & be gentle with yourselves today?

IG: Short Range Hip Flexor Strength.. * * This is a rehab protocol but can be utilized for advanced strength training of the core & hip flexor. With the hip already at 90degrees, you are now training the upper mid range to end range portion of flexion. In order to bring the leg up, your core needs to brace to allow for you to clear the leg off the floor thus you get to train your garter belt. Really focus on irradiating the contraction through your entire body for an isolated clean leg lift. If you have recently injured your groin, hip flexor, knee or core, this is a good way to get back to movement and can be done isometrically as well. Advancing this can be done in a number of ways: -ankle weights -loop band around ankles -towel/hand to passively bring leg up, then isometrically contract to keep the leg in the air whilst removing the support (goal is to decrease the lag when you let go) Try this drill for 3sets of 15-20 As you advance it, you can decrease the reps according to weight. #selfcare #primemovement

IG: Eccentric Loading On Hip Flexor * * This rehab drill is focused on the lowering of the leg to the floor as opposed to bringing it up. If your injury has your hip flexors still too weak/painful to bring the leg up alone, you shouldn’t be doing this drill yet. If you still want to, use a towel or your hands to guide the leg up then eccentrically push it back to the ground. Rehab work is tedious, seemingly slow but necessary work. Trust the intelligent healing process of your body, but be diligent enough to understand that it cannot do a perfect job on its own. Try this drill if you’ve recently injured your hip flexors, knee or groin region. This line of training will get the hip flexors primarily but you can still work it for the knee being in the same line of tension. This would only be applicable if the knee is rendered immobile and you do this to keep Movement & strength above the chain. Try it out. 3 sets of 10-15 #selfcare

IG: Shoulder & Thoracic Primer… * * How much isolated range of motion do you have in your shoulder joint? For most of us, it isn’t much without recruiting the thoracic cage for the ride. This drill helps you focus motion (flexion & extension) in your shoulder whilst keeping your ribcage pinned to the ground. As you progress through the drill, place a yoga block/rolled towel/foam roller along the length of your thoracic spine & repeat the movement. Ensure to keep the lower ribs pinned down as much as possible as you flow through this. Stop power cleaning and shoulder pressing without a shoulder? Start with this… ??????? #flashbackfriday Take me back to this Villa please!?? @villalolbeh #selfcare

IG: Rest & Reset… * * It took a lot out of me this morning to not hit the gym. I’ve been going at it daily for weeks and even though I do self care before or after training, I was neglecting the resting aspect of gainz. Today’s self care regime will be upper body focused due to the forward bent over posture I assume when treating clients. Going after the pecs, core, anterior neck and adductors is the common choice and one I will hammer in on this afternoon. This video is a snippet of opening up the pec/chest region which helps alleviate tension experienced around the posterior neck/shoulder blade area. Add in the Cobra Stretch (yoga) to get more of a core stretch and sit wide legged against the wall, inching your hips closer to the wall for the adductor stretch. This is patient work. Not one input will give you the results, so sit with it repeatedly and for long periods of time to attain results. Happy Hump Day! #selfcare

IG: Rotator Cuff Love… * * Here I am working the Infraspinatus muscle as it holds quite a lot of tension in the rotator complex. You can do this whilst laying on the floor as well and be in a more relaxed position. Move according to your pace and stay in one position that yields relief instead of gliding all over the muscle pointlessly. Give your body time to accept and release any tension. Have fun! #selfcare #selflove
