Insight Timer… One of the best meditation apps I have come across thus far. Do yourself a favor and download it onto your phone.

Where the feet go, the body will follow. ?

The most overworked and under appreciated body part (hands included). I am as guilty of this and have recently seen the true effects on myself as my mentor worked my imbalances from the bottom, UP. We discovered that my knee pain when doing explosive jumps was due to lack of ankle and foot mobility?. Now I ensure to give these bad boys mobility and fascial work before any explosive exercises; and this has been = to no knee pain?? Stop masking the pain, uncover the cause and fix it. I like to use the 90-90 reference when guiding clients into calibrating their form. When those regions activate correctly, the thoracolumbar fascia (low back fascia) tightens as well. That one initial step becomes the catalyst to a series of joint stability as your body prepares for load.

My travels have been opening my eyes as to what’s really important in life’s interactions.

The very first step in Thai Massage is the acknowledgement of each individual present.

During my travels I noticed that if this step wasn’t taken in any form of communication, nothing beneficial could develop.

I learnt that communication is an integral part of relationship building, even if you are simply trying to buy ? from a convenient store in China.?? (’twas a MISSION!) What do you give someone who already has it all??? So I finally got the opportunity to treat one of my mentors Dr. J at #THI @thehealthinstitute It took days of mental prep convincing myself that it was going to be OK?
I was very nervous about treating him, I mean where do you begin when the person already knows their issue, what their diagnosis is and all the selfcare needed for recovery…?? Needless to say, I was wrong about how it would all go down. Dr. J is an educator, peer and mentor. He welcomed me at the level of my knowledge and experience by allowing himself to be the client, and me the therapist.
He remained open to my approach and left his therapist mind at bay (a little) for the duration of the treatment.

IG: Dead Man Twist??? This Thai stretch is great for anyone with back stiffness, thoracic postural imbalance and a tight shoulder complex. It can help improve mobility in your spine giving you freedom to move and sit better within your own body. Thoracic mobility (lack thereof) is a possible contributing factor to shoulder dysfunction and lower back/hip pain. A simple test to find out where you may be limited is so sit upright on a chair, keep your hips neutral without arching your lower back, cross your hands against your chest and rotate your torso to one side. Come back to neutral and repeat for the other side. Ensure NOT to stretch/force yourself further to gain more range. Your torso can only rotate so much. The goal of that test is to help clue you into where you feel tension. When does your body want to stop you from rotating? What sensations do you feel? Which side rotates further than the other? Once done, perform a lateral bend test (seated or standing). Hips neutral and torso upright (no slumping). Lean over to one side and observe. Repeat for the other. Dead Man Twist??? This Thai stretch is great for anyone with back stiffness, thoracic postural imbalance and a tight shoulder complex.

It can help improve mobility in your spine giving you freedom to move and sit better within your own body.
Thoracic mobility (lack thereof) is a possible contributing factor to shoulder dysfunction and lower back/hip pain.
A simple test to find out where you may be limited is so sit upright on a chair, keep your hips neutral without arching your lower back, cross your hands against your chest and rotate your torso to one side. Opening up your hips isn’t restricted to the lower body. Your deep core muscles and surrounding broad superficial muscles greatly affect the positioning and feel of your hips due to their attachment points (direct/indirect). Thai massage is a great tool to release trigger points (pressure points) and loosen up the fascial sheaths in your body.
In this pic, the stretch is mostly felt in the lower region (Just above the hip) and upper region where the triceps and lats meet.
Increasing fluidity in your upper trunk, shoulder & core will greatly improve your overall hip range of motion, ability to engage better and maintain proper form when training.
